Our Story
Urban Lens Academy was founded by Lewis and Ryan, friends with a shared love for photography and a vision to make learning this craft both accessible and impactful. Lewis, a lifelong photographer, has worked on a wide range of projects—from documenting major demonstrations to engaging in youth work across the country. His journey through different facets of photography inspired him to teach others how to see the world differently. Ryan, who initially learned photography under Lewis’s mentorship, handles the operational side of the academy, ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. Together, they created Urban Lens Academy to offer a flexible, personalized learning experience that opens up new ways of seeing the everyday world.
What Makes Us Unique
In the fast-paced world of photography, finding the right time and approach to learn can be challenging. Many photography courses are rigid, with fixed schedules and a heavy emphasis on post-production, which often leaves little room for developing the foundational skills necessary to take great photos straight from the camera.
